The Aston Martin DB9 is a gorgeous looking car and would turn heads anywhere on any social occasion. It screams sophistication, style and a certain British elegance. It combines a sleek, stylish design synonymous with Aston Martins with a modern look that has brought it into the 21st century, combined with an extremely powerful engine. It runs on a six litre V12 engine which results in an unchanged torque, has a choice of six different speeds and can reach an amazing 190 miles per hour. It also comes with the choice of jet black diamond shaped wheels. It is this power and style that is one of the best know features of AM cars, which have strongly become associated with James Bond and British style and craftmanship.
The new and improved DB9 has some major differences compared to the older DB8, whilst still maintaining its core strengths. This change in appearance merely enhances was good about the DB8 and enhances it. The headlights, sills and breaks have also changed. These minor levels of change have of course added to increased comfort for the user as well as being necessary to keep up in today’s ever increasingly competitive automobile market. Being such a luxury and sought after car they are not cheap. The range from anything from tens of thousands of dollars second hand to hundreds of thousands of dollars for brand new versions. Most commonly AM’s are associated with James Bond and it’s the car most commonly used in his movies. Typically it used the lightest, most modern cutting edge materials whilst maintaining the contours and extravagances of previous designs. Aston Martin in the Racing World

Manufacturers of luxury or sports cars sell their cars almost entirely based on one factor: image. They have plenty of ways of promoting this, but one of the best ones is to pit their cars, engines and teams against the car, engine and team of another manufacturer. This is why you find so many of the luxury car manufacturers creating racing models as well, be they F1, LeMan, Autosport or whichever other competitions happen to take their fancy.
Aston Martin have a history of engaging in racing as their founder co-created versions of their cars to compete in the French Grand Prix as early as 1922, setting speed and endurance records on the track. It’s not surprising that such successes bore them on to competing in more races whilst also making people aware of, and interested in, their cars.
When people saw them winning races they wanted one themselves, which was one of the first instances of a car creating an image for itself that people wanted to buy in to. Who wouldn’t want one of the fastest cars available at the time? Read the rest of this entry »
